Saathi Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Saathi is a privacy-first Android assistant designed to provide movement-aware reminders, journey prompts, local activity and wellness summaries, learned-place suggestions, notification digests and optional experimental travel-safety assistance.

Saathi does not require a Saathi account and does not sell personal data.

2. Information processed on the device

Depending on the features enabled by the user, Saathi may process and store the following information locally:

• Preferred name and selected language.
• Detected activity type and activity intervals, such as walking, running, cycling, vehicle movement and stillness.
• Device location, locally learned place candidates, visits and user-confirmed place labels.
• Context reminders and their trigger or completion status.
• Destinations typed, spoken, selected or explicitly shared with Saathi.
• Age, height, weight, waist measurement, activity goals, fitness preferences and calculated adult BMI.
• Health Connect records individually authorized by the user, currently including steps and weight.
• Notification app names and, only when explicitly enabled and individually approved, selected notification titles or message content.
• Confirmed memory facts, pending confirmations, suggestion feedback and assistant preferences.
• Travel-safety sensor observations and the last available location used during a suspected-incident countdown.
• Emergency-contact details entered by the user for optional travel-safety features.

Local app data is stored in Saathi's private application storage. Android cloud backup is disabled for this version of the app.

3. Information sent outside the app

Saathi may send limited information outside the app only when required for a feature selected or enabled by the user.

Weather

Latitude and longitude may be sent securely over HTTPS to Open-Meteo to retrieve current weather information.

Routes and navigation

When the user opens route comparison or starts navigation, the selected destination, travel mode and relevant location information may be handed to Google Maps or another maps application selected by the user.

Saathi does not read the user's general Google Maps search history or navigation history.

Speech recognition

Saathi prefers on-device speech recognition where supported. If on-device recognition is unavailable, the phone's configured speech-recognition provider may process audio according to that provider's own privacy terms.

Saathi does not store raw microphone recordings.

Health Connect

Health Connect access is managed by Android and limited to record types individually authorized by the user.

Emergency communication

Saathi may prepare an emergency message or open the emergency dialler. The external Phone or Messaging application handles the final action.

The Play Store release does not silently send SMS messages or guarantee that an emergency service or contact was reached.

4. Notification access

Notification access is optional and must be granted by the user through Android settings.

By default, Saathi may retain application names for a private notification digest. Notification titles and message content are not retained unless the user enables content capture and approves the individual application.

Saathi attempts to redact OTP and verification-code content. This redaction may not detect every sensitive message, so users should approve notification content access only for applications they trust.

5. Location access

Foreground and background location may be requested because place learning, arrival and departure reminders, journey preparation and contextual assistance are core features of Saathi.

Users may deny or revoke location access through Android settings. Some features will not work when location permission is unavailable.

6. Activity recognition

Saathi may use Android activity-recognition services to identify movement changes such as walking, running, cycling, vehicle movement and stillness.

Activity classification can occasionally be delayed or incorrect. Saathi does not guarantee perfect movement detection.

7. Health and wellness

BMI, activity summaries and movement suggestions are provided only as general wellness information.

Saathi does not diagnose medical conditions, provide medical treatment, change medication or replace advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

Adult BMI categories are not applied to users under 18. Health Connect permissions can be reviewed or revoked through Android settings.

8. Travel safety

Travel-safety and suspected-impact detection are experimental. They may create false alerts or fail to detect a real incident.

Saathi is not a certified crash-detection, medical-monitoring or emergency-response service.

The app does not guarantee that emergency contacts, an ambulance, police or another authority has been contacted. Users should directly contact the appropriate emergency service whenever possible.

9. Permissions

Depending on the features selected, Saathi may request:

• Physical activity recognition.
• Foreground and background location.
• Microphone access for user-started voice input.
• Notification access for optional private digests.
• Health Connect permissions for individually selected health record types.
• Motion-sensor and foreground-service access for optional travel-safety monitoring.
• Notification permission for reminders and contextual alerts.

Permissions can be denied or revoked through Android settings. Features that depend on a revoked permission may stop working.

10. Data retention and deletion

Saathi retains local data until the user:

• Uses an available reset control inside the app.
• Clears Saathi's application storage through Android settings.
• Uninstalls the app.

The Reset learned companion data option removes information including:

• Preferred name.
• Wellness profile.
• Learned places and visits.
• Saved and recent destinations.
• Notification digest data and settings.
• Confirmed memory and pending confirmations.
• Assistant feedback and cached briefings.

Activity history and reminders may be intentionally preserved by that specific reset option. They can be removed completely by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling Saathi.

11. Children's privacy

Saathi is currently intended for adults aged 18 and above. The app is not designed to knowingly collect children's personal information.

Adult BMI categories are not calculated for users under 18.

12. Data selling, advertising and accounts

• Saathi does not sell personal data.
• Saathi does not contain advertising in this version.
• Saathi does not require a user account.
• Saathi does not include a continuously listening wake word.

13. Security

Network requests controlled by Saathi use encrypted HTTPS, and cleartext network traffic is disabled.

Local information is stored in the application's private storage. However, no security system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users should protect their device with a screen lock, install Android security updates and carefully review permissions granted to the app.

14. Third-party services

Saathi may interact with services or applications including:

• Open-Meteo for weather information.
• Google Maps or another selected maps application for routes and navigation.
• Android speech-recognition providers.
• Android Health Connect.
• Android Phone, Messaging, Clock, Calendar and other system applications when the user starts an external action.

These third-party services operate under their own privacy policies and terms.

15. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Saathi's features, permissions or data practices change.

The latest revision date will be displayed at the top of this page.
